Which of the two would perform better??

Go to solution Solved by Slelsul,

I am using this post to state that this thread as solved. I will personally go with the advice from Jurrunio given as I stated before I do not want to go for the shiny and miss everything else.

I only knew that the graphics card was better on one than the other. I still had my doubts though and here we are.

Of course as I would always recommend I will do some research into the numbers if only to understand a bit more of what was said.

I could have compared them side by side but I have only a small bit of experience and as said would not have known the difference.

Thanks for the help again.

I must also say that davemc I do not mean to discredit you at all if you were to have felt that way. I do agree with you that getting the better card would be better for future proofing.

However In all honesty I do not have much concern with future proofing. I also do not play really heavy titles like you my see with AAA or other equivalent sources.

I know that even with the better graphics card I would only be able to handle so much before I burn the card with the CPU. $1,000 would not be adequate.

I just wanted the better in performance now that would be the better balance is all.

I will tag both in this as well. Sorry for saying so much. I am awkward in the way I speak and I had a lot I wanted to say at once.

I would wait for more opinions and arguments but I as anyone would be am so very eager to buy the very first laptop of mine that will be able to do what I want.

One that does not belong in a office. I already have one and the other... Well it almost caught fire I think... There was definitely smoke...

@Jurrunio @davemc

I have two laptops here that I am considering for purchasing.
If I may ask for some to go through the trouble I would like to ask which is better for my needs and why it is better.

I guess I am asking for a comparison of the two from those more experienced than I am.

I am not all that experienced so I have little confidence and want to be sure I am making the absolute best choice.

I am planing to use it (Abusively) For gaming streaming and video/music editing.

I am not really looking for 250fps or all shine but just to have what will do the (abusive) work I need it to do for a (abusively) long time.

The specs from the site for the two laptops are as follows.

Also I would watch a LTT video or even another video but out of the hundreds of videos and how every keeps changing I wont be able to trust them and there are so many that I wont know if I am getting everything or just a piece of the picture.

Also I just figure why not have fun with the colors just because.

And I made the font large for those on mobile or those that my have trouble seeing the smaller font.

Changed the Cyan font color back to default in regards to those that may use light mode. Plebs lamo.

It's okay if you make the font larget but plz dont change the color, cyan on light theme is unreadable.

Problem with the Ryzen laptop is the GPU, 1650 is slow and will fall short soon. Intel laptop has the exact opposite problem, everything but the GPU is inferior. It depends on the game then.

Yeah. That is true. However I want to know as well about the CPUs involved as well as if there would be a different in performance between the two CPUs that may cause the first to be better. Like bottlenecks and compatibility with driver or anything really. This also a bit of a ruling out until one remains. Just the graphics being better would not make the laptop as a whole the best pick if I am not mistaken. I do not really know but I do want to make sure that I am making the informed decision rather than just throw myself at a shiny GPU just because it shines a bit.

Ok I will change then. I only use dark so I did not consider it that way.

Thank you. I really had no idea. Would a Intel i5 10th gen be better than the i7 10gen or am I mistaken? Also would it be comparable to the Ryzen 7?

What games would both run better than the other then? I play mostly things like EVE Online or Warframe or War Thunder or Honkai/Genshin Impact or Kerbal Space Program. Or any slew of MMORPS that just happen to be my fancy at that time.

Also should I tag? @Jurrunio

i7 is still better than i5. Problem is 4800H is an 8 core CPU with much better efficiency than Intel's 14nm stuff. Intel does sell 8 core CPUs for laptops, but it takes double the power (and heat output) for comparable performance. Laptops are power restricted heavily due to battery and cooling limits, so for laptops realistic for consumers, Intel cannot catch up to AMD Zen 2 CPUs in performance.

Intel does make 10nm laptop CPUs, but those max out on 4 cores, so no match either.

These should be light enough for 1650 to handle, just expect minimum graphical quality for the AAA games.

yea sorry my bad

the ryzen 4800h is better than intel, but personally id still go with the 1660 ti machine as the intel processor is a decent pairing with the 1660 ti and that system should last longer in terms of running future games well, because the 1650 will be obsolete very quickly

@Jurrunio Thanks there along with the rest of what you have mentioned is a big help. I actually do not really mess with AAA games. If I am honest I never really had the chance as I hardly have seen anything above 12-20 fps on the two laptops I have owned. Intel I5 3rd gen is not good for gaming lol.

Also about the other task. Would the Graphics card be able to handle the loads of those as well? I know the 32GB of RAM should be good even if it only 2666Mhz. And you have verified the CPU for being able.

gaming streaming and video/music editing

Game streaming uses the built-in video encoder, 1650 has enough power here as long as it's not some super high res and frame rate stream.

Same for video editing but there are effects that make use of GPU performance only. CPU performance is still more important tho so 4800H + 1650 is still better

Music production has nothing for the GPU, so 4800H all the day.

@Jurrunio Ok that is great. Thank you for your help. I really wanted to make sure that I did not just get shiny just because it was shiny.

I remembered in a bit of a video I watched from LTT a while back stating some key differences that made AMD better and I could not get the doubt in my mind to go away until I verified whether I would be making the right decision on purchase or not.

To be honest. If I had purchased the laptop I had in mind I would have been buying the wrong one. I was going for the second laptop for its Graphics card.

I also did not know if the data of AMD being better at this range would be current or not. Thank you.

I will post a post a message in a moment state this thread as solved.
