Hi people of linustechtips,

With the new option of using dual graphics with your integrated graphics, I wanted to know if I could use is with a amd apu a8-3870k quad core and a R7 260x. Also can dual graphics be used with non-amd discrete graphics cards? and does anyone have a link to a somewhat accurate list of possible combinations? thanks in advance,

Sundur

I don't know much about this topic, but from what I've heard it doesn't boost performance a ton. If you haven't bought it yet I would recommend going with a better discrete card and not touching the integrated graphics. If money is an issue maybe you would want to. As said, I don't know a ton about AMD or anything they do. So please correct me if I'm wrong.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

@Jerakl i have seen dual graphics and an increase of 12 to 25 fps in a game is alot

for example you play on cpu 23 fps and you ad a 250 to your rig and bump this with 25fps you play games around 48 fps that is a huge improvement.

its all for people who don't want to spend a lot or can't afford the big cards but i think they better expand this over all the cards because this will be positive for everybody.

maybe this video can help you alot.

Thanks for the clarification, I haven't had any experience with anything AMD other then some older Athlons and  4830/4770s.

Sadly the A8-3870k can only be ran in dual graphics with the following.

  • HD 6670
  • HD 6570
  • HD 6450

If you are looking to buy a discrete card, don't worry about dual graphics with cards such as the 260x. The 260x will out perform dual graphics with any of the listed cards by a long shot.
