Misaligned text & drop-down toggles

lewdicrous
Go to solution Solved by colonel_mortis,

This should be fixed in the next update - it looks like it is a forum issue.

Browser, version and OS:

Firefox, 87.0, Windows 10

Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened?

Just visit the notification settings page (linked below)

What happened?

The texts "Notification List" and/or the arrows associated with them are misaligned.

I can still click on the empty space between the title of the setting and the toggle arrow, and it'll work.

What did you expect to happen?

Have them be under each other, kinda like the 'illustration' below:

Notification List     ^

Notification List     ^

Notification List     ^

Notification List     ^

Does it happen reliably, or was it just a one-off? If it is reliable, can you try refreshing using Ctrl+Shift+R to bypass the cache?

ctrl+shift+r and ctrl+f5 don't affect it.

Then I guess it's FF.

I'm not getting this on FF 86. I'll update to 87 and see if it happens then.

Edit: Not getting it on 87 either.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

What's funny is im getting this behaviour but only if I use my userstyle which eliminates about 10px of padding on items.

I'm not seeing this in FF 87.0 build 20210324205532 or 88.0b5, both on linux, but I am seeing it on FF 87.0 build 20210318103112 (from 6 days earlier) on Windows, which is the latest build available on Windows. That makes me think there's a pretty good chance that this is a Firefox issue that will be fixed in the next update. If it's still an issue by the start of May though, please let me know (FF 88.0 should release on 20 Apr).

Not getting on 87.0 either. Maybe issue with addons and/or zoom? I have 110% zoom for forums.

Yeah zoom is definitely a factor, when I zoomed in and out on Windows where I could reproduce it, some steps worked and some didn't.

Tried zooming in and out; 30%, 80-90%, and above 100%, all look like this:

image.png.10dd8839aecd5b2067b649db5cb4519d.png

50%, 67%, and 100% look like the screenshot on the main post. Weird.

Is the missing "Notification List" intentional, or is it part of the issue?

If you've not opted into any notifications in those categories, that's expected.

It's caused by the line height of .cNotificationSettings_expand being larger than its parent

<div class="ipsPos_right cNotificationSettings_expand ipsType_center ipsLoading_tiny">
    &nbsp;
    <i class="fa fa-caret-down"></i>
</div>

Try this, might have to play around with the line-height depending on your css.

   .cNotificationSettings_expand {
        line-height: 40px;
    }

   .cNotificationSettings_expand {
        line-height: 40px;
    }

I don't really visit that page so wasn't going to even bother fixing it. Still thanks for the fix though!

  • 1 month later...

I just checked again and it's still misaligned.

My browser also updated to FF 88.0.1 from 87.0
