Looking for Router & Wireless Access Point

Go to solution Solved by Electronics Wizardy,

How about the unifi aps? Id probably get the wifi ax lite models, you can get abour 2 for $200.

Id probalby keep the current router for now unless you have a reason to change it.

I have a GPON router+modem+switch combo from the ISP (30/6 plan) which is hot garbage (the switches doesn't even do gigabit, its limited to 100mbit of fast Ethernet), and I'm looking forward for an upgrade. Right now i own a passive 8-port switch daisy chained to a TP-Link TL-WA901ND Wireless Access Point - which is good enough to alleviate the interference - but is dropping the connection in the backyard area. I also want to have more control over the network especially those who are wired in (the GPON combo is super locked down).

So to summarize, i need a good solution for a 2 story house with about 12-15 devices connected to it at its peak, more range and control towards my network, and on a budget. OpenWRT and/or DD-WRT (or similar) support is optional but is a very good bonus.

I got around 200$, so does anyone got any idea on what should i buy/do? I'm open for a 10% overbudget.

I never know about their lite at all. And it does slots in my price range with some to spare on switches Thanks for the tip, i always thought theyre "way above my paygrade" brand. But yeah really my annoyances is less of wireless connectivity and more of lack of RJ45s and the struggle to control the flow of the network.
