I am working in the construction industry in the field of repair/conversion where the project duration are about of 5 weeks to 8 weeks.

On these project we usually work 24h/day, 6 days/weeks and we need to know really fast how the project is going to see if we need to add resources or to reassign resources on another  project.

I am looking for a suggestion for a progression tracking solution.

We are also looking for a quoting software for the same project;  it would be nice if both software could speak together; it would be great if we could use the same software.

Currently we are using some custom excel sheets for quote progress report but I am looking for another solution

One major problem is that internet access is often problem on site depending where our site is located so Web based apps are not my first choice

Microsoft Project?

MS project wont give the quotation part, and it has many issues, it is fine when you have to layout the project step by step but if you have to go in to details that he will probably will its not the best one.

Unfortunately i don't think that such thing exist yet (especially the quotation part) , so far i had to combine SAP, Excel and MS project to do exactly that. I think that you may be in the market for creating something custom.

I am still reading on this

I found this information from the site:  https://constructioncoverage.com/estimating-software

Quote

Bidding software: typically focuses on the creation of project bids / proposals, subcontractor and project scheduling, client management, and bid analysis / reporting
Takeoff software: actually specializes in pulling information off of digital blueprints and spec-sheets, and uses this information to ultimately generate the cost estimates
Estimating tools: help estimators (usually contractors and subcontractors) create the line-by-line cost and quantity estimates for materials and supplies. Typically, these tools include cost summary templates, preconfigured formulas and calculations, and regional part / material cost databases. Sometimes estimating software can refer to products that cover all aspects of bidding, takeoff, and estimating.
Bid management software: this sounds very similar to bidding software; however, it actually refers to a set of tools for contractors to manage their subcontractor bids. Sometimes these tools will let contractors generate their bid proposals (which is the purpose of bidding software), but that is not the focus of these tools.

More research to do 🙂
