Laptop 1060 better than my desktop 2060 at mining?

I've been using nichhash to mine on my gpus. And my 1060 (which is a laptop GPU) is performing better than my RTX 2060. 22 MH on the 1060. 18-19 on my 2060.

 

Is this a thing or is my 2060 doing something weird?

That sounds very odd. The 2060 should be a hell of a lot better than the 1060, but it's probably been limited by newer drivers to prevent miners from buying gamer cards.

The only card that has a limiter is the 3060. They would be in all kinds of hot water if they retroactively limited an existing product. I would check whether the card is somehow running into a power or thermal limitation.

 

~edit: Since you mentioned NiceHash: This program uses different mining algorithms. So please make sure both cards are minining using the same algorithm if you want to compare their performance. The hash rates between different cryptocurrencies are not comparable.
