Very high temps on ryzen 5 1600

I've had my pc for a few years now with a ryzen 5 1600 and the stock wraith spire cooler. I remember from the very start idle was at around 40-45 and load at around 80. Since then i have changed the thermal paste once but that was more than 2 years ago. Now, i noticed hwinfo64(and other software) showing 60C or more idle and the cpu reached 90C within 2 minutes if aida64 stress testing. Something is clearly wrong here.

Yeah, changing thermal paste every two years can do that. Its about time you did that again.

Do you think i should invest in an aftermarket cooler? Im planning to change out my pc in a year so i will be able to use it for the new cpu when i get that.

In that case, just reapply the thermal paste as I previously suggested.

what horrible thermal paste do you use that causes such a rise in temps after two years?

 

@tripaloskihow dusty is your cpu cooler? because this sounds like dust to me.

Anyone who is replacing the thermal paste is doing it without cleaning the CPU cooler is doing it wrong. Also here is one.

but, it's not replacing the thermal paste that fixes the temperatures, it's removing the dust.

 

you're essentially telling someone to rebuild their car's engine because they need a new fuel filter.

I used artctic silver 5. And yes, my cpu cooler is pretty dusty

Shitty example. More appropriate one would be telling someone to replace their tires instead of changing air pressure. Both essentially can change the traction but not in same levels. Anyways first point is correct.

all my comparisons are shitty, but they drive the point home: what you're suggesting is a ridiculous level of overkill, for a problem that can be solved with some canned air.

get some canned air, and blow the dust out your system. it's a 5 minute job , and i suggest you do it every 6 months. essentially the more often you clean the dust out, the quicker it goes.
