Making xbox 360 cabled

Hi, im trying to make my wireless xbox 360 controlled cabled, not data, only for power.

I've seen these videos on youtube that they just put the two power wires from a usb cable into the battery pins of the controller and apparently works, but i'm concerned, two AA batteries output 3v, are not the 5v from the usb cable going to burn the controller?.

I wanna be sure before doing so.
