Hello everyone! Just a random newbie guy here!

Got a problem and need some help. Recently i made an upgrade to my PC. I bought a Corsair h115i RGB Platinum AIO(2 ML series fan included) and extra 2 ML fans(all RGB). The fans included from the AIO package are connected to the cables that comes out of the pump of the AIO and works perfect(both power and RGB headers). The extra 2 fans are connected to the motherboard for power and for the RGB. Now, the RGB from the 2 extra fans doesn't work and i don't know the reason. They run completely fine, they just don't have colors and they also don't show up in the iCue. I tried to connect the RGB headers from the extra 2 fans to the pump's RGB headers that is already connected to the fans who came with the AIO and they still don't work. When i first connected all the fans, 2 on the pump's cable and 2 on the motherboard, the extra 2 fans connected on the motherboard just light up for a sec and then done, never again. Any ideas?

Motherboard is: Asus Rog Strix B350-F Gaming

Ps: Hope you understand from the photo i upload, i've done amazing work as you can see!

Can you elaborate a bit more on how you have connected the top/rear fan?

Corsair RGB fans have two cables on them:

- PWM cable

- RGB cable

If you bought an ML140 2-pack, you got a Lightning Node Core controller with it.

That controller is used to plug the two fans' RGB cable into, which you then plug that controller into USB 2.0 front panel and SATA power.

The fans are then connected to your motherboard's PWM (fan) headers.

Can you confirm you have plugged them in like this, or elaborate on how you have them connected now?

(which header(s), etc.).

Either the fan headers on the motherboard are not shorting properly or the fans are damaged, try checking out with other fans if you have any in hand.....

I didn't buy a 2 pack fan, cause i got one 120mm and one 140mm separately, so i don't have a Lightning Node controller. Now i'm thinking that the RGB fans are working only with a controller. While i connected them to the motherboard, both PWM + RGB cable. Do i need a controller for the extra fans? But why they are not working when i connect them to the pump's cable headers? While the fans that came with the AIO works fine?

Well the truth is i don't have any but as i said, when i connect them to the pump's headers they still don't work. So maybe you're right, they are damaged. Cause the fans who came with the AIO and are connected to the pump's cables are working fine.

Corsair's RGB fans have two cables from them, the PWM cable and RGB cable. To make things a bit easier:

Radiator fans = the fans that came with your H115i AIO

Case fans = the fans you bought, for the rear/top of the case

PWM cable = the cable on the fans responsible for making them spin

RGB cable = the cable on the fans responsible for the RGB colors

With the H115i, you have the radiator fans plugged into an RGB and PWM header that came with the cooler, to make them spin and show color. Did you try the case fans plugged into both of those headers?

The H115i only supports the PWM/RGB cables of two fans, so for that's good for the radiator fans, but you do need some controller for the RGB of the case fans, like the Node Core to connect the fans like so:

or:

Purchasing these controller separately is often pretty expensive, at least compared to getting it in a 2/3-pack of fans.

The Corsair RGB connect is proprietary, meaning the RGB connector on your motherboard is NOT the same as what Corsair uses. if you connected the Corsair RGB cable to a Motherboard RGB port, it's entirely possible the fans' RGB is broken because of those incompatible RGB standards, but that's of course difficult to say for sure.

Yes, i tried to connect  the case fans(rear/top) to the PWM and RGB cable that came with the H115i and they didn't work. Before that i connected them to the motherboard header and they just light up for a sec, then nothing. So, for now, i guess i need a hub and the Lighting Node Pro as i can see in this image to make them work, but i also guess they might not work cause i first connected them to the motherboard and i may have damaged them.

Assuming the fans work, you'd need a lightning node pro + RGB LED Fan Hub.

Unfortunately it's just not possible for me to say if the RGB in the fans was damaged. I don't know the pinout of the Corsair RGB connector, so not sure what would've connected with what.

As already mentioned, Corsiar's RGB header + control is proprietary, and different from the more "standardized" RGB headers on your motherboard.

You mentioned they turned on...briefly.

And that was that.

You *might* have potentially killed the RGB lights in the fans.

Or *might* have killed the RGB header(s) on the motherboard itself.

Very well. Thank you so much for your help! Now i'll get the hub and the lighting node pro, and i just hope the RGB didn't just die. Thanks again for everything!!

if you put this

image.png.bae42b878fc223628e4320025e4acd6b.png

directly to the MB 4pin RGB you kill the lights instantly...

Corsair dont make RGB stuff.. they make ARGB stuff.. thats 5v..
and MB 12v will insta kill it..

Other stuff that might die.. PCs with no airflow ( ur front fans are facing the wrong way)
