Looks like a SMI controller, TLC and decent life.

 

Company was founded in Taiwan in 1996, so been around a little.

If you were to buy an ssd of that price, maybe a bx500 2Tb might fit better.

BX line is terrible.  No DRAM, lower than normal endurance and speeds.

I don't know anything about it, but I like how the product pictures show the drive next to 2 different MacBook Pros, neither of which has room for a 2.5" drive.

True, but it's the only think for that price. Most  good (non-high end) ssds are 0.1 dollars per gigabyte

True, but this Leven seems to tick all the boxes the BX can't.  May be the dark horse.

 

I'd pay for the MX over the BX any day.

True, but not every application needs a high-end SSD. This would be a game drive, and for that application where nothing irreplaceable is lost if it goes bye-bye, a $160 2TB SSD becomes a very attractive proposition. The thing killing me is that a 2TB 2.5" HDD is less than half that, and even a 4TB 2.5" HDD still costs less, and for games, it's not that big a deal to go with an HDD.

oof my biggest regret for my last build is not buying a bigger ssd

What you're spending on the rest of the PC.... don't you think it's reasonable to go all SSD?

 

HDD is neat, but we're beyond that for the most part.  

 

You know, power steering, power door locks, power windows were all nice in the 80's but now we need heated/cooled massage seats, bending headlights, pilot assist driving...

 

... we need to up our level of standard features to be more current. SSD all the time.

lol you know exactly what I'm spending for this upgrade/conversion if I go through with it. Honestly, the biggest argument against an HDD is that it makes a clicking noise, and if I actually go through with picking up the parts, I'm going to want this thing as close to silent as possible. It's going into a Corsair QBX for the time being which can handle my existing 4TB 3.5" drive and the two 1TB SSDs I use, but still, tempting, and necessary if/when I end up in a TU-150.
