Upgrading to 11th Gen

trkgmssy

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Just for gaming

My current setup;

i5 3470

2x4 DDR3 Ram

MSI Gamingx 1050 TI

500W PSU

I bought this PC back in 2014,it was something like an office pc. I had to upgrade the GPU to be able to play games, in recent games DDR3 8GB isn't enough at,

I need to upgrade to 16gb at least, buying DDR3 for the same price doesn't make sense, so i need a new motherboard and CPU. 1050 TI isn't great for new gen games

but should be enough for one more year and GPU prices are burning right now. I was thinking 10400F, but 11th gen on its way so i will choose 11th gen probably, Ryzen is better than Intel for multitasks,

but pricey. Intel is still decent at game performance. My plan is 11400F with Gigabyte B560M D2V and a decent 3200Mhz 2*8 RAM. What do you guys recommend or think about my choices ?

Well, once the reviews are out, then you will get your answer. If the performance jump is small then I would just get the 10400f

I would definitely say that is overkill for just gaming. I have my i7 9700k and that will hold up for a couple of years atleast. And I also game VR which is more demanding. GPU is what should be upgraded atm.

EDIT: Not saying you shouldn't upgrade. Just not the 11th gen intels.

PM or DM me if you have any questions about audio.

My PC specs & audio gear

CPU > Intel core i7 14700K, GPU > RTX 4070 ProArt, RAM > Corsair Vengeance DDR5 2x16gb 5600mhz, Motherboard > Asus ROG Strix B760-F, Storage > 1TB M.2  & 500GB M.2 Kingston, Cooling > H150i Elite, PSU > MSI A850GL

🎧Current Audio Setup🎧

Beyerdynamic Tygr 300 R w/ Dekoni Velour as daily driver

Soundblaster AE-9 Soundcard

AKG P420 Mic

Other peripherals

Keyboard > SteelSeries Apex Pro

Mouse > Steelseries Aerox 3 wireless

Mousepad > Pulsar ParaSpeed XXL

VR > Valve index kit

Read this post if you want a "gaming" headset ;)

I have to upgrade both, but GPU prices are not looking good so until they get settled down, i will upgrade my CPU, motherboard and RAM. I heard rumors about non-X 5600, i might wait for that we have no date but what do we have except hope. I know 11th doesn't show hope but i want to believe that it will be decent at least😄 Thank you for the reply.

The 5600 non x is most likely OEM only 😞

I will buy a new motherboard and a new CPU anyway, i don't get why would i buy a 10th gen motherboard and CPU while i can get 11th gen. It might be little bit more expensive but it will be worth i think. If AMD makes a move everything would change of course.

Well the performance uplifts aren’t really there in 11th vs 10th Gen, and it would be cheaper.

I mean totally depends. 5% more performance is only worth it if it's not a lot more for board + cpu. So basically hold a little and see for yourself.
