Seems like a solid build, but considering you have a 3090, I would recommend a PSU of at least 1000w, and 80+ Platinum if you have the budget because a PSU is a great area to put some more money. Also, what sort of fans and how many? Good airflow will be needed because those components will generate lots of heat. Otherwise, seems like a solid build, and everything is compatible, including fitting in the case. Good build, and enjoy!

10700k is a cheaper, newer, and basically almost the exact same cpu, with more upgrade options for the motherboard, and cheaper. Get that.

But to be honest, I would get a 5900x and maybe even a 5950x before a 3090.

Would work but poor choice, it looks like somone just took a 2018 list and smacked on the newest and baddest GPU and SSD.

 

9900k: not a bad CPU but not the fastest anymore and the platform is dead, so no more upgrades without changing the mobo.

 

3200MHz CL16 memory is quite disappointing for this budget (<=$1000 build choice, with 16GB). 3600 CL16 should be the minimum at this point.

 

980 Pro: You wont feel any difference between high end PCIe 3.0 x4 SSDs annd PCIe 4.0 x4 SSDs. You also need Ryzen 3000 non-G CPUs or 5000 CPUs with B550 or X570 motherboard, or Intel 11th gen CPUs on Z590 (and some Z490) mobo to use PCIe 4.0, so this SSD on Z390 will only run PCIe 3.0 giving away the performance that you paid for.

 

Maybe consider adding some case fans. 4 from the factory is nice but more airflow is always better.

3090? Your two decent options are a 5900x and 5950x. Also get a nice x570 board and 32gb or 64gb (probably 32) of 3600mhz cl16 ram. The cfm of that liquid cooler is much lower than a d15 of the same price, so if you are going for sub 100 dollar cooling, a d15 is likely better, as liquid cooling only makes sense closer to the $150 range. Someone here can pcpartpicker create a list if they want, but this is a basic outline.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 5900x i can't seem to find it.

CPU: Best for gaming atm will be AMD's Ryzen 5000 series. Fastest one atm is the 16 core 5950X, but you could probably get away with the 12 core 5900X because extra cores wont be used in games. Simulators like FS2020 or BeamNG drive are different though and will use all cores.

Ok thank you very much. Though it says that "Some AMD B550 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vermeer CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions."

Most B550 and many X570 boards can flash their BIOS without any CPU, even though at this point B550 and X570 boards you buy should already come with new enough BIOS to support 5000 CPU.
