Hello,

I am currently working on an issue with the Cooler Master ARGB Controller.

Issue is this:

I have got a controller with the ML360 AIO cooler. It should according to Cooler Master Support be able to run 3x4 fan ARGB lights, in this case mostly HALO fans and some lesser.

The controller supplied with the AIO has trouble supporting more than 6 HALO fans, it starts to dim the LEDs when I try som bright colors that ofc do draw more power than colors.

However this seems to be a faulty device according to Cooler Master and they have been generous enough to ship a replacement Controller not once but twice.

My issue with the new Controllers got me stomped though, the first one I got seemed fine. I found it on the SW could set it up and everything but one thing was missing, it didn't have any output i could turn on!

I just got the second controller and i have the same issue, it shows up fine on the computer I can set it up and everything, but still this one too has nothing on the output. In addition this Controller box has been pre testet by Cooler Master before they shipped it.

Do anyone have any idea? The first Controller still works fine except from power hungry lights that dim it down due to power issues. I have tried swapping back and forth to make sure nothing is wrong, this drives me crazy..

Help me! Pleace!

Which model of the ML360 do you have?

ML360R?

The ARGB controller that comes with the ML360R, looks like the one they sell separately.

This ARGB controller has 4x ARGB headers.

https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/rgb-accessories/argb-led-controller/#specifications

Each CoolerMaster HALO ARGB fans are rated at 5V, 037A each, fo rthe ARGB lighting.

https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/coolers/case-fan/masterfan-mf120-halo/#specifications

The Controller is power via SATA power connector, so it should be able to power 6x ARGB fans.

That said, EACH PORT on the controller may be only rated for a certain amount of current.

6x 0.37A = 2.22A.

You may need to separate your 6x ARGB fans out, 3 + 3 configuration, to balance the current loa.

2.22A total might be too much for a SINLGE ARGB header on the controller.

Even in the ML360R user manual CoolerMaster instructs you to daisy-chain the 3x HALO ARGB fans to one header on the controller.

Then the Pump ARGB to a SECOND ARGB header on the controller.

Unfortunately, CoolerMaster doesn't specify how much each header is rated for.

Given that they are not connecting all 4x ARGB together t ONE header, it is probably rated for 2A / per header or something.

In that case, 6x ARGB fans (6x 0.37A = 2.22A) might be overloading it.

Also, the controller has a button to toggle between 4-pin RGB mode, and 3-pin ARGB mode.

Make sure you are on the correct mode.

You either control the ARGB / RGB lighting through:

  • ARGB / RGB header on the motherboard (Connector C) -- you don't connect / use the RGB cable (Connector E), and don't use the CoolerMaster software
  • CoolerMaster RGB Software (Connector E) -- You don't connect the RGB cable (Connector C) to the motherboard, and don't use your motherboard software
  • LED Mode Adjust button on the Controller -- ( Connector C, and Connector E not used)

The similar H500M ARGB controller can support 2A per channel (4)   but only 3A max (for all the channels)

the halo fans draws 0,576a each.. 6 x 0,576 = 3,456a

coolermaster is very kind to send you  a new since ur killing them  😄

Hehe, The numbers speaks for them selfs tho. No DOA here

luky i guess. i got 2 different rgb products form coolermaster and both were doa so i didn't bother to contact them for replacements. i when corsair instead. i guess some were faulty and some were not. but there be other products out that were rgb and they too suxed so safe to say i dont like coolermsater for rgb anyway.

Scratch it, I made a "fumble"....  But this last controller has the same issue. However now I have two working so I can use both I guess.

If both works now (Ur lucky) u can put 1 device per ARGB header, and since u have 7 devices and 8 headers  😄

I have 5 i think. all of them works fine. I love CM for their argb. i think they where one of the first big fan manufacturers that started to use the "open" standard (the MB standard) with all type of devices.

that didn't happen before a cash grab of there proprietary 3 pin splittor for $35....but if you can see past that at lest they use the stander for that atlest. i wish i was not so unlucky with em.
