Since this is tech related and something i'd like to discuss, i thought i'd post it in general discussion

Wouldn't it be easier if the error *beep*s that come from your pc when something has gone wrong were in morse code?

Sure. Some of us have the L.E.D's that glow bright red near the affected area.

But since we already have the beepy thing in our computers it might as well make itself usefull

For instance.  - -- - / - -- / -- -- = RAM  ( - = short beep. -- = long beep)

Or  -- / - / -- -- / - -- -- - / - / - -- - / - -- - / -- -- -- / - -- -= Temp error

This way it could tell you more specifically what has gone wrong. And transcribing the error onto a piece of paper would not be too hard.

Am i the only one that thinks this might be fun?

Nah, I rather have something I can read immediately than something I need to memorise, this just makes it more difficult for the average joe that just wants to fix their computer..

What happens if your PC starts doing this at night?  · · · – – – · · ·

It needs help?

(if you just typed the SOS)

I was thinking more along the lines of if this was widely adopted. It would be yet another way of figuring out what went wrong.

If the computer is capable of understanding its own error and transmitting it, then it would more likely than not be able to output the same information to a more understandable output such as a screen or store it to the hard drive.

Yes but where is the nerdyness in that?

The morse alphabet is not that difficult to learn. And in this application only the ones that are interested in technology could learn it if they wanted to. it would not be mandatory

And this way that miniature speaker that is installed in most systems becomes more usefull.

What it if played a different genre of music depending on the issue.

RAM issues could be Country & Western.

CPU Temp could be Jazz.

PSU could be Hip Hop.

Completely fucked could be Cold Play.

Nothing to see here - move along.

Completely fucked should be dubstep

There are 10 types of people in this world, those who understand binary, and those who don't.
