So for some reason no matter the game and no matter the settings my PC gaming experience is ruined by this very odd choppy gameplay. Games like Titanfall, Battlefield 4 and even Minecraft are choppy. Keep in mind this is no matter the settings. Low, Medium and High all do the same exact thing. It is ruining my PC gaming experience and I want to know what I may be able to do to make my experience better. This happens no matter if I have Skype open or not it is just very confusing to me. I had an AMD A10 5800k with a 6670 that was not this bad and I enjoyed it.

I have tried Defragging my HDD, Checking my Hard Drive and Closing un-needed programs and nothing is changing. My mouse DPI is on 2000 and even then that changes nothing I have even changed the polling rate to see if maybe if that could be the issue and nothing is helping. It also seems as if my Mouse is lagging and stuttering. But this lag only happens in game.

Ok so I see a big freak out of a post. Lets slow down a bit. What exactly is lagging? You say both the game is lagging and your mouse is lagging or stuttering of sorts. How exactly did you find out the mouse issue while the game was lagging? Or does this happen while you are on your desktop as well? Is the game moving fine but when you move your mouse it seems to have a form of lag or stutter? Maybe just clear up a bit so that I or some else can give you a proper diagnoses or a fix. I'm sorry, I don't I fully understand your issue to make proper pinpoints.

Ahh not meaning to sound like I am freaking out lol and it is only in game everything else is ok.

Well I am aware of the mouse feeling more floaty in windows 8. But i believe they already fixed that. Not to sure about the mouse other than possible drivers issues. Cause this was when you moved over to windows 8 correct?

For the mouse problem possibly check this out since it seems to have happened when you crossed over I think. Once again could use more info ;D

So now about that potiential GPU freaking out during games which could also be the case as you said with your general game lagging. Just check temps with certain softwares out there and see how your system is doing.

Do another driver check. Also just in case you did some over clocking with this build, just pull back a bit on the clocks. But I'm sure that's not the problem, for if you over clocked and this started happening, I'm sure you would have turned the clocks back to normal by now...

Can you try running a benchmark (Unigine Valley or something like that) and leave it in windowed mode and see if it is still choppy and if you are still having mouse issues? The issue could be with the GPU (either not having enough power going to it or faulty) Also are you running any OC on the CPU or GPU?

What are your temps like under load?

So I ran Prime95 and MSI Kombuster and my CPU was between 65c - 70c and never really went higher than that. My GPU was around 55c - 60c. So I do not think it is the temps.

Yea, I thought that it was a driver issue with my Deather Adder as well as my Catalyst drivers so I did a fresh install of both and 0 change.

Here is a video so you can see what I mean. I can even see this jumpy motion on my desktop, not as noticeable though.

Hopefully you can see what I mean in the video, While moving without moving the mouse there is no issues it is when I move the mouse. Also I can see it on my raw clip that is in 60fps hopefully it shows up on YouTube 30fps

Make sure your monitor is actually set to 60hz via monitor properties.

Looks like 50hz motion... even if your pumping 100fps, 50hz would still make it stutter.

Try using catalyst beta drivers, or if on beta, the first stable ones. Also make sure your selecting the right series of card when you DL them.

Let me start by saying that any and all support whether it be tips on improving this or an all out fix is always greatly appreciated! I will explain some more in the post what I am experiencing. Only thing I have not tried is a new HDD but I wonder if that could help it.

I am running windows 8.1 Pro and no matter the game when I move my mouse the game start to stutter almost like it is skipping somehow. When I am just walking the game looks really nice but once i touch the mouse it just lags. I want to be a PC gamer but this is almost making me want to go back to the console, even though it looks worse it is more fluid moving.

I have tried updating the bios and all my drivers etc. I have used a different mouse and a different monitor and nothing has helped. I have plugged the mouse into different usb ports and tried different DPI and polling rate with 0 improvement.

I have tried with and with-out vsync enabled and it is worse without it because I get screen tearing and the stutter. So I use it.  A way to explain what it feels like to me is the the mouse skips every other pixel on the screen. So instead of it going from pixel 1 to pixel 2 it goes from 1 to 3 etc

It seems like there is no fluid movement rather it is all sharp and stuttering. I have tried everything that I know to do after over a month of research and nothing has helped.

Click this and you may be able to see what I mean
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H2kjX1NwNw

The games run perfectly at 60 fps and some even more but it feels almost like I am playing in less than 30 almost like 20ish fps. And when I move the mouse there is no drop in fps at all and if any it is a max of like 5 and even then it is very rare to see it that high. Most of the time it stays right at 59-60 with v-sync

The Games I've played
Minecraft
Titanfall
Battlefield 4
Paranautical Activity
Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie 2

All games are the same as far as stutter while some like Minecraft I notice it more. In Titanfall and Battlefield it seems like the red dot or iron sights always moves over the enemies body. So even when I play I can't keep my aim on the enemy.

Some say it could be my HDD but all the test I've ran have come with 0 issues. Should I just opt and get an SSD?

What if its the actual motherboard... or its USB ports your connecting the mouse to... maybe some signal within is F'd.

^Just a guess at this point...

Seems a little lowend of a solution but.. tried another mouse, instead of just changing settings of your current one, try another?

Maybe the sensor is semi-F'd.

  • 3 weeks later...

im having the same issue but waaay worse than that video, its weird because i can play bf4 on mid no worries, but css is choppy as all hell, unplayable, like you are in a time warp or somthing similar. and there is massive lag from when you click to shoot, then the gun goes crazy and unloads a clip in under half the time it normally would, probably going to get vac banned if it keeps up
