PCIe to M.2 Adapter detected in Bios but not in Windows

Hotwheels101

Hi I got a cruical P5 m.2 drive hooked up to a PCIe to M.2 Adapter to use a third m.2 drive. It's detected in the BIOS Board Explorer as "Unknown Vendor - solid-state storage controller", it's just not detected in Windows, I can't find any drivers for the drive either

MSI x299 SLI PLUS

Intel i9-9820x 44 lanes (2 x M.2 PCIe x4 and GTX 1080 already taken up 24 lanes)

I tried bifurcation (vroc) to see if it could at least see the drive even though it's incompatible with VROC and it could see the drive and size

Any advice?

By "not showing up in Windows", do you mean it doesn't show up in File Explorer or it doesn't show up in Device Manager/Disk Management?

Does the drive work if you plug it into an M.2 slot on the motherboard?

Which exact adapter is it?

They are both working because the drive is detected as an unsupported VROC drive when trying to troubleshoot but I know X299 only supports VROC on Intel SSDs so the drive is detected

What drive are you using? Is it a SATA PCIe drive? Those are not supported by the adaptor, though they will physically fit into the slot. Can you send a link to the specific drive you are using?
