So I just recently got a 2080 super from microcenter STRIX model, and for some reason when I plugged it in I get display and it loads up everything but none of the fans come on. And I know that they idle at 0 till 55 c. But they won’t even turn on. The two red lights next to the power cables coming from the PSU are red. So I thought maybe new power supply? Tried it, same thing. Someone help please. Picture of the lights below. THANK YOU!

Sorry I was in a panic when I posted this, but the fans don’t come on under load. Temps excel 80 c. Because the fans don’t turn on.

IIRC those lights indicate if there is power draw from the respective cable, so they should be on. Have you actually put a load on the card and watched the temps to see if they would go over 55C without the fans turning on?

Yes I did put a load on the card and the fans still don’t turn on and highest I’ve seen temps was 88 degrees Celsius. I’ve built about 15 computers and never had this issue and it’s got me stumped.

The lights should be white, not red.

OP, exactly how long ago did you buy this card?  I haven't heard of Micro Center having any 20-series cards for months, they're all out of production except now Nvidia is bringing the 2060 back to try to ameliorate/take advantage of shortages.

Also, for future reference, it's good to make your thread title something that's actually descriptive of the issue, there's like 20 threads per day on the LTT forums that are just titled some variation of "help me."

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

It looks like you are using two PCIe cables, correct? If you aren't, try using two separate cables. Is it 1 cable with 2 x 6+2 pins?

I’ve tried two separate cables. Different plugs for the PCIe cables. Nothing seems to work, starting to think it’s faulty.

I got it 4 days ago. And that’s what I thought they should be white indicating that it has correct power consumption. I read that it was cause I didn’t have enough power so I got an 850 watt gold rated power supply and hooked it up and still the same problem.

and I’m new here and never had to do this before so apologies on the title.

Did you buy it brand new or "open box"?

What specific models of PSU have you used? "850W gold" doesn't mean much.

One of the +2 pins is not connected properly it looks like.

It should be flush with the 6-pin block, but it's crooked in your picture.

It was an open box. Finding a GPU now days seems like impossible so I jumped on the opportunity. And the model I have in right now is 850W EVGA GQ

Correct the crooked +2 pin connector -Rascal- mentioned. If that doesn't make a difference, return the card. Seems likely there was a reason someone returned it before and it ended up as open box, and if someone returning a defective part to Micro Center doesn't tell them there's a specific problem I don't think they test it much at all.
