chipped RAM contacts, cause for concern?

Go to solution Solved by SEAL62,

The RAM could still work since the damage appears to be mostly not on the contacts themselfes, but since you bought them new I would just return them and get a new set. What if it stops working in 2 months, you try to return it and the vendor says that it was damaged by you?

Hello, i am building a new PC and i am waiting for all components to arrive. I just received my RAM kit and found the Ram contacts on one of the modules to be damaged. You can see it in the image i have uploaded. I cant test the modules yet because not all components have arrived. Is this damage important and should i be concerned?

I agree with @SEAL62. It might not affect you now, or in one week, or four months. But if it at some point comes down to that issue (which you might not even know for sure) it's gonna be hard to return them. Since you don't even have all the components yet I'd just return them ASAP and get new ones.

Better safe than sorry.
