Build won't POST, EZ Debug CPU LED

Voraguard
Go to solution Solved by Voraguard,

So After a few days of troubleshooting by myself, sending both Motherboard and CPU back, I can't seem t figure out what the issue is.

Build

CPU: R9 3900x
Motherboard: Msi MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon Wifi

Ram: TridentZ RBG 3200hz (2x16GB)

GPU: Zotac 2060 super

PSU: Corsair HX 850
SSD: Samsung 970 M.2 1TB

AIO: NZXT Kraken Z73

What I have done so far

  • Replaced Both CPU and Motherboard
  • Used stock fan
  • Used 1 Ram stick
  • Used different Ram sticks (they were also slower)
  • No GPU
  • Both 8pin and 4pin on Motherboard
  • Swapped out PSU
  • Swapped out PSU cables
  • Reset CMOS and Changed CMOS battery
  • Tried M.2, SSD and HDD

Results

Basically, the Debug LED for the CPU still remains on and the system powers off after 5 to 8 seconds.

I was thinking maybe it was just the pump but it still happens with the fan that comes with the CPU.

Everything else turns on just fine, the pump and radiator fans, GPU, Ram, and even heatsink for the M.2.

I would really appreciate any help even if it yields no results.

Thank you for taking the time.

Fix

Orientating it off my test bench fixed it, it seems that the pins weren't contacting the board enough.

Make sure there are no bent/missing pins on the bottom of the CPU

It's listed there, r9 3900x.  Probably just not on the bios the board shipped with.

Just to confirm, do you have the 8 Pin EPS power connected? (4+4 pin connector usually on the top left of the motherboard)

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

TY for replying so fast!

I was actually looking at that just now and was looking at how to do that. Though I'm still not sure how to exactly as I saw that the I/O shield does not come off and I cannot quite see a button

Yes, the 8pin (4+4) is currently connected.

I'm afraid of breaking any PCI/E connections to the motherboard so i take great time and care putting them on.

? Here's how:

Updating BIOS with M-FLASH
Before updating:
Please download the latest BIOS file that matches your motherboard model from MSI
website. And then save the BIOS file into the USB flash drive.
Updating BIOS:
1. Insert the USB flash drive that contains the update file into the computer.
2. Press <Ctrl+F5> key during POST.
3. Click on Yes to reboot the system and enter the flash mode.
4. Select a BIOS file to perform the BIOS update process.
5. After the flashing process is 100% completed, the system will reboot
automatically.

I'm looking into updating the BIOS, but the website says that it should come out of the box compatible with the r9 3900x. Should I still update it?

My issue is that PC does not POST and merely shuts off after a few seconds. Should I just press Ctrl+F5 while it is on?

I also saw that you can do it without CPU installed?

So i flashed the bios (id hope i did it right) and the Motherboard stays on without power to the CPU if its in but not with power

does that mean anything? it wont stay on if the CPU isnt connected

So pressing the flash bios when i turn it on keeps it on so i suppose its updating the bios as the BIOS light is flashing while it remains on.

will update soon
