HDMI Arc workaround for monitor

Emmpii

I bought a Soundbar (Sharp HT-SB107) and I didn't really consider things properly. The soundbar has connections for AUX, HDMI Arc and Optical.

Currently I have it set up using AUX directly to my motherboard (ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero).

I have 2 Dell S2719DGF monitors but neither support HDMI Out/HDMI Arc.

I wanted to know if there's a work around for this so I could put the soundbar in/out of standby depending on whether the monitor is in sleep?

I also have 2x HDMI ports and 2x Display ports on my Sapphire Vega 64 Nitro+, currently using the 2 HDMI for my monitors. Would any of them be of any use?

So my devices available are:

  • Soundbar: Sharp HT-SB107
  • Monitors: Dell S2719DGF
  • Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi
  • Graphics: Sapphire Vega 64 Nitro+

From my knowledge you cant do that as monitors take output from devices. Don't take my word but can't you plug it in your GPU?

Just tried that and I'm getting nothing, no detection of it on the PC, nothing at all

yep went through the list, the only HDMI outputs I was getting was for my monitor i.e. would only output if I connected aux from monitor to the soundbar (as the monitor doesn't have built in speakers)

Welp I guess it's a no go. You'll have to resume to using the remote
