X570 or B550

Go to solution Solved by Haro,

The main difference between the X570 Chipset and the B550 one is that on X570, all the lanes that are wired to both the CPU and to the Chipset are Gen 4, on B550, the lanes that are wired to the CPU are Gen 4, while the lanes that are wired to the Chipset are Gen 3.

Unless you know that you need the extra Gen 4 lanes on X570, you wont really be missing out on anything with a B550 board.

The Strix A is quite a decent board if you want to go for it.

updates/better compatiblity and OC features.

All of this is just wrong.

Hi guys,

getting myself a new motherboard. I have a Ryzen 5 5600x and a 5700xt.

I am currently looking at 2 motherboards:

the Asus Rog B550-a and the asus prime X570 prime-pro.

the prime is around €50 more expensive.
I suppose I want to know is it worth the extra €50? As wel as that I have a white case and AIO hence the preference of 2 white motherboards.

any insights or that?

thanks guys! 🙂

that x570 bnoard does not really offer anything over b550-a.

i have the b550A myself and i love it. Should not go for the x570 board

Yeah, I've built around 20 builds for said boards past month. Good luck having b550 stable and supportive for said gen. No b550 board will have capability of an x570, we are talking about top tiers of each lineup. 550 was very close not to get support for this gen, there is a reason for it.  Several customers came back asking to give them better board due to poor optimization and lack of bios patches for RAMs resulting in providing them with x570. Happy ever since, running sticks at rated speeds of 3600/4000 like a champ.
