Will a ryzen 5 5600x work with a x570 motherboard out of the box?

Check with the manufacturer if the bios is updated, boards manufactured after the 5000s release usually come with updated bios's

if the board was purchased recently, most likely. if not, amd offers a solution: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/warranty-information/rma-form

they loan you a cpu to update with.

If you buy it in a store go see if it has a Ryzen 5000 ready sticker on the box.

Depends on how old the board is.

 

I got a Asus Strix B550i when i bought my 5600x and that needed a bios update.

 

luckily my board supported bios update without CPU.

 

Do you have a x570 board at the moment? if not loko for aboard that has the sticker or has an option to update bios without CPU

Look for a board that supports the bios flashback feature.

I went through the same issue with my Asus TUF b550m-plus

 

You can recognize it by looking at the IO on the motherboard in pircures. Look for a USB slot that has a small black button next to it

You put latest version of bios on that USB, push the button and the board updates automatically.

This is amazing because all you need to to is connect the board to power source, you don't need CPU or even RAM, it doesn't boot during this process, it uses the cpu and memory of the chipset to do the install.

 

PS: Different manufacturers calls this feature differently. Asus calls it bios flashback

Which board are you looking at ? A B550 is more than likely good enough for you though, and lots of them have bios flashback.

edit: nvm, it is the correct form, you just fill it out like normal, and in the problem description field enter “Boot kit Required” (without quotes).

My 5600x wouldn't work with an X570-A Pro, needed a BIOS update.
