What are my chances at picking up a 5950x anytime soon?

Should I just keep looking out for stock alerts and try to buy at retail price, or should I just pay an extra $500 (canadian) to pick a 5950x off of eBay? I've been trying to get one for weeks now and I just want to make sure I get this build done sometime during spring. I'm also trying to get a 3090 strix with no luck as well. I really hate the scalping going on but at this point I'm getting impatient and might give in, paying scalpers is still within my budget (10-20k budget for my whole gaming setup)

I'd try to watch some stock checkers for a week and in that time try to get yourself one. However it is still pretty unlikely for you to get one.

Well apart from the fact everyone will utterly hate you for encouraging the scalping if you give in.

 

The question is, do you actually NEED a 5950x?

Do you have any local retailers around that you can call and ask them to see if they got any in?? Sometimes, people are more lucky that way than an online web store/retailer.
