Hi, I'm a bit unsure about what to set the voltage to for my xmp profile.

I have 2x 8GB ddr4 2666MHz memory, but according to Task Manager, it is only running at 1067MHz. I enabled XMP, however if i leave the frequency on "Auto", it still only appears to be running at 1067MHz. I changed the setting to DDR4 2666, however it would just bootloop. I tried setting the DRAM Voltage to "Auto", but it still appears to only be running at 1067MHz.

Thanks in advance if you can help!

The RAM isn't showing on the QVL(Qualified Vendor List) meaning it might not be supported fully, especially in the case of using XMP which can already be pretty hit or miss. ASRock boards are a bit finicky with the BIOS, so try to set the voltage to auto, frequency to 2666 and disable XMP. Then save the profile and save and exit BIOS.

2666MHz isn't a particularly high speed. Pretty much any board should be able to run that regardless of QVL validation. Still, could very well be the cause of the issue.

For some reason the motherboard fails to train the memory properly and this is causing your boot loop. Is your BIOS up to date? If not I would start by updating it. Also try setting the memory voltage to 1.35V and see if the computer will boot up. If that fails, remove the XMP profile and manually set the primary timings to 18-18-18-36; additionally do set the tRC to 54. Keep the voltage at 1.35V.

I have ASRock X570 Taichi. Lately they've gone real conservative on the Infinity Fabric clock with recent BIOS revisions.

For example, my DIMMs are 3200 in XMP mode. However, I have to manually set the IF clock to 1600. That's a 2:1 ratio.

Go ahead and put your memory into XMP mode for 2666, but set your IF clock to 1333. In theory, it should work.

DDR4-3200 and 1600 MHz IF should be 1:1.

The EFFECTIVE DRAM frequency is 3200 MHz, but ACTUAL operating frequency is 1600 MHz.

The IF based on the actual DRAM frequency.

I stand corrected. But yes, it would be 1:1 as clocked.

I still don't know why ASRock does this. Do all MB vendors back off on the IF rate?

It's 3200 MT/s. Not 3200mhz. Technically the "effective" frequency is "actually" 1600mhz.

Double the data, same frequency. DDR.

If I set it to 1.35 (or 1.1350) it just goes red, and as soon as I click off it resets back to 1.2image.png.160441756e1e3eb82b6b1353a1cddc4d.png

You could maybe let the bootloop go on for a few minutes longer and see if it solves it, I don't know how long you let it train. Longshot, I know.

i did try this, and while it does seem to boot on the 4th attempt, it says the ram is still running at 1067 (thats with every setting set to Auto)

You can change the "fail count" to lower than 3 so you don't have to wait for 3 failed attempts before it posts in "safe mode".

Try leaving XMP on auto or w/e the default is and simply change the memory frequency to 2667mhz and see if the board can automatically set the timings up for the memory. It may post in this fashion, it may not.

These are the settings that I meant, including the one tCL and tRC though. Also, this might sound stupid, but after you tweak the settings in the BIOS do you actually press F10 before exiting in order to save the changes?

Ah so would it be 18-18-18-18-36 and tRC 54? I have no idea what these timings actually do so I don't now if there are any consequences of messing them up, hence my extra precaution haha

And yes I do
