Internet issues

Go to solution Solved by SupaKomputa,

Upload for cable modem usually not as high as download, around 1/5. But 6mbps is not great for 120mbps download.

A quick lookup in google this is my result, so yours probably are normal.

Your ISP should give you a better modem since they promised at least 200mbps.

Hi, my router is an Asus RT-AC3200 and my modem is a sb6120 motorola. I recently upgraded my isp provider speed from 200mbps to 600 mbps however there are no changes to my download speed on speedtest.net. I am still stuck at 120 mbps download speed but the upload speed did increase from 6 to 15. I am wired and plugged in through my router. Is the problem because of my modem?

Replace that 6120, it isn't even capable of doing 600 down since its only an 4 channel modem. Its only capable of doing about ~150 down maximum.. Its likely what your problem is.

This is absolutely f***ing insane that they didn't tell you the equipment you probably rent from them wasn't even capable of handling the speeds you pay them for

My mind is blown

probably self owned modem and not from the ISP if I had to guess.

Contact your ISP, they completely govern your speeds outside of the house. They should've absolutely told you if your current modem was incompatible but anything's possible

You need a minimum of the 8x4 cable modem for 200 Mbps on most providers. The modem you have is only 4x4. Truthfully Id buy a 16x4, 24x8 or a Docsis 3.1 modem.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
