So I'm currently trying to help an elderly woman get a laptop setup for herself. She has never owned a computer before but there are some hurdles that we are having trouble overcoming.

1. She is dyslexic, so she has a very hard time reading the screen.

-This isn't that big of an issue. I simply turned on narrator, and while I find it annoying as hell, she doesn't seem to mind it.

2. Because of her dyslexia she can't type. So she needs a good voice recognition software to allow her to do things like search the web.

-We tried the integrated speech recognition in Windows, which was awful (big surprise) and she has said that she has tried Dragon, but that didn't work for her either.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a software that might work for her better than the two mentioned above?

IIRC, the built-in VR software in Windows is based on Dragon's program, and while there are some other ones out there, Dragon is the 800 pound gorilla in the VR software world, do you know why Dragon didn't work for her?

She said that it just wouldn't correctly transcribe what she dictated to it. I think that part of the issue is that her voice is very shaky, which makes it very hard for the software to accurately transcribe her voice.

It take a lot of training to get it right, it's not a one and done package.

Frankly, if Dragon won't do it, I strongly doubt anything else will be better, they practically invented the field.
