Why am i suddenly getting around 30-40 fps in valorant and really low fps in other games all of a sudden.

Francis Kyle

Can someone help me, for some reason and i don't know why but all of a sudden my pc is getting 30-50 fps in valorant when in the past/yesterday i would get like 180+ fps  and it also happens to other games like warzone, minecraft where i would usually get like 90+fps i suddenly keep getting 22 :(

Could be bloatware,a screenshot from task manager could help.

What I would check first:

  • Task manager. Is there something that's putting a lot of load on your pc
  • Windows power settings: windows update messed with these in my system a while ago
  • temps, is a fan broken etc.
  • put default setting ins nvidia control panel

1st question: none my task mgr is normal like it always is

2nd Windows power settings ? havent checked that yet.

3 temps my gpu and cpu temps are fine and are at 35-40c'

4th havent touched nvidia control panel too because in the past i had to reinstall my whole pc after i accidentally turned on gpu scaling.

Have you scrolled deep into task manager ever? Those apps most likely aren't open, they check for updates etc in the background, even i they haven't been touched. Besides, Those aren't putting really any load on the system

That's what the Windows Update service is for.

Windows Update is programmed to install the newest update,so if you delete it,it will be installed again.

There are ways to fix this, but i instead recommend using a LTS version of Windows 10 or using Windows Server 2019.

Windows Server 2019 doesn't have bloatware and it's more stable than Windows 10,

Here is an Evaluation version free to download and try the OS:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2019

https://software-download.microsoft.com/download/pr/17763.737.190906-2324.rs5_release_svc_refresh_SERVER_EVAL_x64FRE_en-us_1.iso

I would recommend to install it with the Windows Desktop Environment,

And follow this guide to make it feel more comfortable to use: https://www.windowsworkstation.com/win2016-2019/
