I need tech tips.

It's a very bad time to be buying parts, especially video cards. Prices and availability are all out of whack.

You'd be better off buying something used to tie you over until things return to normal (hopefully in the summer, but we can't guarantee this)

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

What would work better would be something you actually want from the PC. Do you want more of a workstation based, or a gaming based computer? I'd also advise probably doing it later, because at the moment GPU prices are extremely high.

PC: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x, 3600 DDR4 2x8 G.Skill Ripjaws V, Crucial P2 1000 GB, MSI B550-A Pro, Noctua NH-U12s, 2 pack of Arctic PWM PST F12, Phanteks P400a, 3060 ti RX 560 in place of 3060 TI)

I need a PC both for school work and for gaming. I could even go for pre-builts at this point.

What games exactly? School work anything will probably work on anything, but games has many factors.

The PC games I play at the moment are Minecraft, Brawlhalla, and CS:GO. I plan to get more games like Jedi: Fallen Order or Skyrim if I get a PC. I think I might get into streaming too.

(This is less than 1k with no peripherals. Possibly the mounting bracket might not fit, if you want me to change it so it 100% fits I can do.)

I wouldn't pay 400 for a 1650, your better off with a used older gpu and getting the 3050 or 3060 or whatever Inna few months, but I myself am impatient and who knows, maybe the gpu market could get ever worse, but it seems like it hit rock bottom so I doubt it. I'm pretty sure you can get a used 2060 for not much more than the 400 dollar 1650 I would at least look into that.

At the time being, if going AMD, I personally wouldn't recommend B450. Even though that is an amazing choice of motherboard (first-hand experience), it just doesn't look like there will be a decent upgrade path in the near future. If you can afford it, go the big brother with B550.

To start you off, I'd recommend a cheaper SDD that is decent (Seagate, WD, Crucial...  NOT SECOND-HAND) for a similar price, to be the boot SSD so it won't be slowed down by that. You can then add a hard drive later on down the track.

Agree with Pc6777 on getting an older GPU for time being and get a good one later, will save you lots of strife and maybe even regret later on down the line.

You don't need a case that expensive, just the cheapest compatible at your local store or on Ebay. Even second-hand if you are willing to cheap.

Otherwise, I agree with the PC part picker list. But you will need a bigger PSU if you want a 30 series graphic card.

Only reasons why I chose the GPU + Case + SSD + B450

GPU, he said he only has a few months, I don't think this GPU situation will clear within that time frame, I agree with the SSD though, big issue on my part as I was quickly slapping it together, B450 was just to stay in his price budget, and the case I totally agree with, but it's not that expensive, at least for a case

Bad mobo, a B450 Pro4 is much better and cheaper.
Horrible GPU choice.

Bad value case

NO SSD?

Bad PSU.

geometry is hard

I quickly threw this together, many things aren't that great and I already said that I shouldn't have used the SSD, and restating from before, only used that GPU because he said he needed in a short times notice, it's immensely unbelievable for the GPU market to completely restore in such a short time.

Yes but he’s building in a couple months. How do you know if that GPU will be in stock then?

Also “throwing it together quickly” isn’t a good excuse.

Look man, I'm trying to be helpful and am completely revising that list to be better, some things I don't have much knowledge on (mainly SSD's and cases) which is why I said quickly thrown together, I just looked at the reviews + price.

Everything here is practically better, only things I don't think some people will be happy with is the SSD and Case, GPU only if market returns to its former glory.
