Can you watercool an i5 2400 on a H61M-VS?

1mpact

Hello!

I've just been planning out a move of my motherboard and other parts to a new case (see info about upgrade here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/B2fg4d)

And I've been choosing about wither to water-cool or do it or using air and i was wondering if my motherboard supports this cooling process with water, For now I've been using a stock intel cooler in an old HP tower case that for sure won't fit a 120mm water cooler in. I'm a bit unsure about doing it as I'm not sure what connectors are needed for water-cooling, I've watched multiple reviews on watercoolers and have found a couple that look enticing towards my budget, Just need some advice for if I can water-cool and what AIO to go for.

Thanks,

Sure but why? 120mm watercoolers simply suck for the price. A dirt cheap hyper 212 is as good/better than any of those single rad watercoolers and far cheaper.

Also don't get that case it has terrible airflow.

I have no idea why you'd consider it considering you won't be able to overclock it anyway. Any cheapo air cooler will be enough to keep that i5 cool.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

😄

Edited the list. PSU is very overkill but if you plan to upgrade it will be fine.

Anyway the Hyper 212 will do a good enough job as a cooler. I also replaced the case as the original one you posted sucks.

As I might be upgrading soon, This was just something to have for a while before I change board and cpu/ram ext

who would buy such expensive case and psu with a modest budget build like that? 😬

Case he orignally planned to buy was around 60. and the PSU he chose was a lot more expensive (like 90)
with that im assuming op is planning to do upgrades. If not OP should go with a CXM or CX

anyone that like that case ... also those are not related to the main rig and can be used for years to come ... I consider them the same thing as a monitor or good peripherals ... you don't need to change those things every time you upgrade your computer so at least for me it's worth buying something really good and reliable so it will last me for a very long time.
