I'm not really worried about pcie4 support. And I really need to get a new computer set up soon, So I dont think ill be able to wait for 11th gen. And everyone is sold out of 5600x and 5800x. And I really dont want to by off of ebay

you raise a fair point, though I'm not sure if intel 11th gen or ryzen 4th gen is gonna be in stock or not by the time op is able to get a 3070 at msrp

In that case pick up an i7-10700k now. The hyper 212 black cooler goes nice with it. Get whichever ATX size Z490 motherboard you like the look of. Put it in an ATX case you like the look of. Get a fully modular 850w power supply. Get 32gb (2x16gb) 3200 or 3600mhz cl16 ram. Get a 1tb m.2 drive, wd sn750 drives are good.

One other option would be to go with the i5-10600k a very fast 6 core processor and try to snag a z590 board (they are released already) so you have the option to upgrade to 11th gen in the future. You could even go i3-10100 in a Z590 then slap in an 11th gen i7 or i9 in a month or two.

edit: do you have access to a microcenter location? i can work up some links to parts if you want me to

Awesome thank you. But the same question I had for the other person. Why 2x16gb over 4x8?

I would go with a higher watt PSU. If he goes with a new gpu for example a 3080 then that power supply will have a hell of a time trying to keep up with it all under load. My 5900x and 3080 when running full out can pull over 600 watts alone before adding other items into the mix.

It doesnt really matter. Whichever is cheaper. Some people dont like the look of two empty slots. Getting 2x16gb gives you the option to add another 2x16gb later on. But if you do go for 2x16gb then make sure to follow the motherboard manual for which slots to put them in.

@carl010010Do you have a microcenter near by? If so getting a 30xx series gpu and a 5xxx series cpu aren't that difficult.

Closest drive is 11 hr and 2 min... Not really an option unfortunately

Any ddr4 ram above 2133mhz is overclocked. You can get 3200mhz or 3600mhz for a good price. The ram CL is the latency, so you want it to be a small number and it will help performance. As for the i7-10700k you would want to pair that with a z490 motherboard, however keep in mind that intel 11th gen should be out in a month or two on new z590 boards adding a performance bump as well as support for pcie4 speed for the gpu and one m.2 ssd. But you said you need everything in a week or two so that may not be an option for you.

Keeping your 1070ti is a good idea. What are the rest of your specs? Current case, psu, cpu, ram, mobo?

Yeah adding 1 frame of performance, ram is ram.

you think the difference between 2133mhz ram and 3600mhz ram is 1fps?
