How do I tell what revision my Asus Rog Strix z490e motherboard is?

John55

So I looked up online that rev 1 and 2 had ethernet controller hardware issues. These issues were fixed in rev 3. How do I tell what rev my Asus Rog Strix z490e Gaming is? I saw you can see it printed on the board itself but I checked all 4 corners and I cannot see it.

You can either do what @lgcas said or look around the edges of the motherboard and look for REV X.0 or V X.0.

Is that number the first revision or the second? I see a 1 and a 2 so I am not sure which one that is

You can also run Windows' built in System Information (msinfo32 from command line). That will spit out a heap of useful system information including board-level details such as revision. Here's what mine looks like. As you can see I  have a rev 1.xx board, which I'm not happy about at all. In fact, the upgrade to Windows 11 was constantly failing until I remembered I had a previous Windows 10 update failure that reported a problem with that damned I22-V Intel Ethernet adapter. I solved the issue by first letting Windows Update download the Windows 11 files and before restarting to kick off the update, I did an Uninstall and Attempt To Remove step on the existing Intel drivers for the Ethernet using Device Manager so that Windows 11 would simply auto-detect and install it's own drivers.
