Indeed, when below 43 degres they are not spinning.

I could set them at a lower speed and I won't have any issue but that's not really a fix, i'm just avoiding the issue if doing that ... 😕

I'm not too sure, but maybe the mobo almost doesn't have enough power to spin up the fans, and that's why it stutters while it is turning them on..?

Hello guys,

I'm having an issue with my computer, I've tried many things but can't find what the issue is ... Reason why i'm posting this message here, hopefully you will be able to help me.

So I'm using a fan curve, my system's fans are spinning when "system2" is at 43 degres Celsius or above.

Problem is when my fans are starting, my PC is freezing for a second ( video and sound )

I've tried to reset bios and reapplying the curve but no change. I've checked my fans and cables but no issue. My Windows 10 is clean ( reinstalled it last week end for a different reason )

I've used this curve for a while and never had any issue with it, I have this issue since two days and I dont remember installing any software or anything that could cause this problem ...

My PC is kinda new ( oldest part are 1 years old )

CPU : Ryzen 3700x

GPU : RTX 3070

MOBO : Aorus x570 elite

PSU : Seasonic Prime GX-850

All my fans are "Noctua NF-A14 PWM chromax.black.swap" which are not even a month old )

Also BIOS is up to date.

I've checked the net and forums, I've seen a lot of people complaining about their computers freezing and then fans going crazy for few seconds then back to normal.

It's clearly not my issue, temps are fine I see my system temp going to 42 and as soon as it hits 43 degres PC is freezing for a sec and fans are speening simultaneously.

If you have any suggestions, questions ...

Thanks.

Are your fans powered by molex? The reason I'm asking is it occurred to me that if your storage drive is on the same cable as say your fans. Maybe the fans ramping up is causing the power to the drive to drop and your system to freeze. Just an idea and its most likely not even close to what's happening here but it's a guess. I'm assuming your fans are powered off headers from the MOBO which would make this idea invalid. If your fans are powered by the mobo headers just disregard this post.

Nah, I'm using the pwm cables which are directly connected to pwm headers on my motherboard.

Those fans are 4pin, the mobo has 2 chassis 4pin headers, and a 4pin cpu and cpu_opt headers

From what I understand, you have set your fans to be off, until it is 43°C? If so, try setting the fans to spin slowly, instead of being off

I'm not too sure, but maybe the mobo almost doesn't have enough power to spin up the fans, and that's why it stutters while it is turning them on..?

Just went to the BIOS and lowered the speed of fans when system2 hits 43 degres, just have to wait and see ... ( they are still spinning right now )

Sorry for the delay, had to try more than once to confirm the fact that you've found the solution ! I just lowered the speed of my fans (0 to 20% was 0 to 30% before) and no more freeze 😃

Thank you !
