Been a little bit since I played with my ESP32 board, but I believe you have to hold the BOOT button when you plug it in to put it in flash mode.

Hi, I bougth ESP32 from banggood https://www.banggood.com/Geekcreit-ESP32-WiFi+bluetooth-Development-Board-Ultra-Low-Power-Consumption-Dual-Cores-Pins-Unsoldered-p-1214159.html?rmmds=myorder&cur_warehouse=CN

but i don't know how to uploud code to this thing with Arduino IDE. I installed some library for these boards but it's not working. I installed CP210x driver. Can you please help me how to set it up?

Interesting, it looks like it has the autoprogrammer transistors are present. Those two tiny three legged components should trigger the BOOT and EN pins on the ESP32 for you when you start to program, but there are so many clones of the devboard I wouldn't be surprised if there's a problem with the circuit. Glad you got it working, this is one of the most common issues when newbies get their first ESP32. I have also experienced the same behavior when the ESP itself is not soldered to the board properly, but that takes a hot air gun and a drop of know-how to fix.

I ran into the same thing with my (custom) ESP board... I'm not convinced the CP210x correctly handles the RESET/BOOT lines (or doesn't pull them down long enough) because both of my serial adapters were based off them, and both failed to reset/boot it properly (unless I put a fair amount of capacitance on the lines, but then it would boot to flash mode every time). It's on my list to try a proper FDTI-brand serial adapter, but project is in development hell behind at least two other projects, so it'll be a minute before I get around to trying.

I soldered a bunch of fine wires to a bare ESP32 module (u-Blox NINA-W102) before I figured out my board worked fine and it was something in the boot/reset that wasn't behaving. I spent hours debugging that stupid issue...

I'll probably make a post when I've actually made headway on my ESP32 project (I need to have another PCB revision made before it's fully ready for the limelight/alpha testing).

Interesting, is there a chance you weren't using genuine silicon labs chips? I think most of the esp32 devboards out there are so cheap they don't use real chips so maybe there's a slight difference.

Confirmed this circuit works with legitimate components

I think I've seen that reset circuit before, but in whatever research I did before I built my board, it didn't come up as necessary (mine is just wired direct from RTS/DTR to IO0/EN). I'll have to see if I can put a discrete version together to see if that fixes it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Espressif put it on their reference design, it's really convenient to just click upload and not having to worry about dealing with any bootloading buttons https://www.espressif.com/en/products/devkits/esp32-devkitc-googlecloud-iot/resources
