Is i5 10600k and rx 5600 xt a good combo

Hi i am thinking of upgrading my cpu because I think that it is holding back my gpu's performance. My current CPU is a core i3 9100f and I am getting low fps so would a 10600k paired with a z490 motherboard be a good match for a rx 5600 xt.

That would be a solid upgrade and would definitely improve performance.

Do you need the 9100F and old motherboard together for something?

Might make more sense (depending on your current motherboard) to just get a second hand 8700/k or cheap 9400/9600K and sell the 9100. Could cost you as little as $100 to upgrade vs. $400.

i don't think the 5600xt warrants a cpu upgrade from 9100f, maybe add another stick of ram

As @SavageNeosaid, get another stick of RAM.

 

Intel systems need dual channel. Games that are CPU intensive even moreso.

first of all get a secodn ram stick. that will help a lot. make sure that they are seated 1 slot apart form eachother.

 

then better cpu can help. selling the 9100f and buying used 9700f could be nice idea. or new h410 and 10400f.

look for used 9700fs on ebay. shouldd be around 200$. you can also sell your 9100f for 60-80$
