Corsair RM650 Questions

MexicanAnimal

Hi all!

I was wondering, I am about to build a rig with a 4670k and a 290. I wanted to use the RM650, but I can't find anywhere how many 12V rails it has.

Does it have a single or multiple 12V rails? Because I'd prefer a single 12V rail PSU.

Thanks in advance!

Why would how many rails it has matter?

A rm550 is already more than enough for that system. You could go with a rm450 if you wanted but headroom and silence is sort of the point of the rm series.

It has a single rail.

Oh great! Thanks! But where'd you get this from? I just couldn't find anything, even on the Corsair website.

I don't know, I've just heard that a single rail is more efficient.

An RM450 would be pushing it in my opinion especially if OP wants to overclock

It's not. For all intents and purposes, there's no difference.

It'd be fine.

I do want to overclock as much as my 4670k allows, plus I don't want to change up the PSU when I upgrade again, besides it's just 15 bucks more for a 650 than a 550, and I fell a little more comfortable with a 650 :)
