Ryzen 7 5800x overheating

stmead

I got the 5800x recently, but when I run Cinebench, my CPU tops out at 87-88C. I’m using a Corsair iCue H100i Elite Capellix water cooler (240mm), and a MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi motherboard. The bios is updated for Zen 3 (double checked in the bios) and I have tried re-applying thermal paste twice. Would be great if someone had any suggestions.

I have the same problem with my 5800x, though i'm using a 280mm NZXT x63 AIO instead
I've also reapplyed thermal paste twice and i get temps of 90,8C read from HWInfo. What scores do you get in Cinebench? I personally get 5652 in R20 as my best score, which is a bit low, as it should be somewhere around 6000 points.

I’m typically getting around 15,277 in R23.

The 5800x has reported to run very hot for some people. The YouTube channel Classical Technology did a video on it. He ended up returning his.

I think I’m going to try undervolting to fix this problem. See how much performance I lose compare to how much cooler it runs.
