Plex Server with i5-2400

I want to create a Plex Server with an Acer Veriton X6610G I5-2400 with 16 GB RAM at 1333 Mhz. The case only allows a single slot low profile card. I have an Nvidia GT 1030. However, this card does not do encoding. Which single slot card can I use for 1080 / 4K encoding?!

What codecs?

 

Probably something like a recent quadro p2000 or simmilar, but those aren't cheap.

 

Did you try doing it on cpu only, id have 4k direct play, and 1080 should be able to transcode on that cpu.

I have a 4k Television. I am using MKV to convert my movies from dvd to digital. However, I am only getting 1080p. I also have an I7-3770 which I use as my work pc. Yes, Nvidia Quadro are a big expensive. Would a Nvidia GTX 1650 be a better choice for the I7?! I prefer to use the Acer desktop as a plex server over my work pc.

DVDs are only 480p, so they should play fine.

 

What codec is the 4k videos? Id try to just direct play the media if you can.

 

a 1650 should work fine if you can find a single slot one.
