MSI 3070 Suprim vs 3080

Jordanvt45

So I have the option to buy a 3070 Suprim for basically MSRP. I was just wondering what the difference between that and a 3080 is? The 3070 Suprim is more expensive than a 3080 but the 3080 performs better. In a perfect world, I’m just confused on why someone would spend $800 for the 3070 Suprim rather than spend $700 on a 3080. Is anyone able to enlighten me? Please, thanks.

Really? I found a 3070 suprim for much less https://www.adorama.com/msig3070sx8.html?sterm=QEtT%3AlSONxyOWqJwUx0Mo38JUkEUcn36EWRE1o0&utm_source=rflaid912994

The reason some gpus cost more despite having the same 3070, 3080, etc is because they can have higher quality components and can be sometimes faster than other skus of the same model (only by a bit though). Assuming you're stuck with the 3070 for more money than the 3080, I would get the 3080.

edit: to clarify, you're either paying for a high end 3070 or a low end 3080 with not as many bells and whistles

What is the MSRP for just the 3070 Suprim?
The guy I am buying it from bought it on Newegg for $800 unless he faked the picture...

The picture is real, but it is like that because of scalpers.... Scalpers artificially raise the price by artificially limiting supply (buy out everything). That guy probably scalped a bunch of 3070,3080,3090,etc and showed you the picture to explain why the price is so high, therefore selling you on the idea that his price is reasonable. If you can, don't buy it. Just wait for the cards to come back into stock. There are some stores only selling cards in person. I recommend going to one of those stores as you have a higher chance of actually getting a card.

In my opinion, it's not worth paying more for a high end lower tier card than a low end higher tier card. In other words don't pay more for a 3070 than you would for a 3080. Some may argue that higher end cards are cooler and can overclock better, but they stiil won't outperform the higher tier card (which can also be overclocked).

Link to the 700 dollar 3080? (because I think you're slightly confused perhaps)
