If nothing you will be doing specifically needs an Intel CPU then definitely get the M1 MacBook Air. It is a lot faster than the older MacBook Pro, and the keyboards don't break.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

Photoshop on a 13 inch screen would be a nightmare. Do you have an external display?

Instead of a used 2016 13 inch I would look at a used 2015 15 inch. You would get a better display, more ports, a dedicated GPU and a much better keyboard for around 800 bucks.

MacBook Pro 16 i9-9980HK - Radeon Pro 5500m 8GB - 32GB DDR4 - 2TB NVME

iPhone 12 Mini / Sony WH-1000XM4 / Bose Companion 20

Got already an external Display.

Don't want to do professional editing just a lil bit.

I already thought for the 2015 ones but i dont like the small trackpad. 😅

Mainly I want to use it for school (office, visual studio and cisco packettracer)

Also a long lasting battery is important for me.

The 2016 model has the first generation Buterfly, so very bad keyboard (it feels bad, it's loud, and it fails alot. 2018/2019 Butterfly generations are better, but still feel not that great)

Also, it's a 7th gen (or 6th?) Dual Core only. Quad Cores came 2018 into the 13" Pro.

So the performance difference between that old Dual Core and the M1 will be out of this world.

I 100% vote for the M1 Air. You can buy external storage, and 8gb Ram with unified Memory architecture should not be worse than old 16gb Ram with x86 machines.

Also: Even if you need Intel and Windows, a 2016 Pro should be ALOT cheaper than the M1 Air. That thing is not worth 1000€ anymore. Not even brandnew.

Before you waste your Money on that failure from 2016, take a 2015 model. Also a Dual Core with almost the exact same Performance, however better keyboard, more Ports, better cooling.

2016 and 2017 Macbook Pro 13" with Dual cores shouldn't be an option.
