A rookie and his first PC build (O11D XL + EKWB + MSI B550)

wackmofo

Hi guys, I'm new here. It was my long lasting wish to finally build my very first PC and since I am a rookie, I have few questions and would love to get some help :)

So I've got this:
- Lian Li O11D XL case with two EWKB radiators mounted at top and at the bottom - each radiator has 3 EKWB Vardar fans
- MSI B550 Carbon Wi-Fi motherboard - https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-B550-GAMING-CARBON-WIFI

- AMD Ryzen 5950X with EK Quantum Velocity CPU block
- Vertical mounted Palit GeForce RTX 3080 GamingPro

My first question is how to connect all the RGBs together (6 fans + CPU block + O11DXL LEDs that are in the Led Control). Since I am a total noob about LED, I don't want to mess things up and burn something :)

Do I use the JRAINBOW header on the motherboard or the RGB header at the bottom?

So you'll have to get at least one compatible rgb hub for all the ek stuff. The 011 stuff runs on it's own. So basically rgb hub them and then connect them to a rgb header

There is a product called EK loop connect - link: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-loop-connect.

That should be plenty for your use case. (6 fans, pump + more) The software on it is kind off bad and buggy, EK had a post on their site a few weeks ago committing to fix the software so if you can wait a few months, this product will be great.

Thanks guys. Are there any other hubs that are comaptible with that and will work also with O11D LEDs? Do these hubs take care of the ventilators too, so I don't need to plug each one to the motherboard FAN headers?

The site says that you need a 3-pin RGB header on your motherboard for the LED strip at the front. That should do it, there shouldn't be problems with that (you should just check the software though, they only list aura sync from Asus)

So each fan has this (picture): female 4-pin connector (1 blind), male 4-pin connector (1 blind) and power connector. If I connect the male 4-pin connector to a D-RGB 6-way splitter (https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-d-rgb-6-way-splitter-cable) and the power connector to 3-way fan PWM splitter (https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-cable-y-splitter-3-fan-pwm-10cm) is this okay? What does the female 4-pin connector that stays empty stand for?
