Buying a h212, could I paint it?

Helpful Tech Witch

Im buying a used hyper 212 (I think it's the Evo) today, but I really don't like how it looks on black cases.

Assuming that I just painted the outside of the cooler, the ends of the flins (so they would look black at the angle), the heat pipes, and the top of the cpu block, would spray painting the cooler cause any measurable loss of performance?

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

They do sell a blacked out version of the 212.

If it's a single thin layer, the performance difference should be minimal.

I've painted an ar01. I used engine paint with ceramic particles in it to help heat dissipate through the paint. How much did it help? Idk as the cpu I was using didnt require alot to cool.

Just make sure you get a paint that will help with heat transfer (i.e. engine paint).

Other paints would just insulate the metal which is not what you want to do.

And for $10, yeah I would go that route.

Stop by the auto parts store near you, and find a color or black that you like.

And just to 2 light coats, that should be enough.
