overclock Worth Replacing My GPU Thermal Paste?

Want to OC my Zotac Twin Edge OC 3070 and I want to make sure cooling performance is optimal so is it worth it to change the thermal paste to something like thermal grizzly kryonaut?

No.  GPU's aren't setup like CPU's.  It's a unit, leave it as such.  The thermal paste is fine.

for that new gpu the stock thermalpaste shoudl be fine. when it is 4- 6 years old you should change it.

It depends. My brother had me redo the thermal paste on his gfx card last week. Before it was hitting 60c idle, 88c max with severe thermal throttling. So i unscrewed everything and took it apart only to find the thermal paste was brick solid. It was no use at all. So i cleaned it off. I put arctic mx4 on it. Built it back together and now it is idling at 29c and is hitting 70c under load. A thermal paste reaplication can sometimes help.

No, not on a new card. Only reason to do so would be if you intend to try setting records with liquid nitrogen cooling. One thing you might want to do is add cooling to the RAM chips if there is space. If there is not space (rarely is on un-modified cards), be very careful about O/Cing the RAM. Consider getting a thermal probe and attach it to one of them to keep an eye on it, or just be conservative in how far you push the clocks on the RAM.

Only if your going to put in liquid metal.

But the new paste on the carsmd will be fine. 

I just repasted my rx480, dropped from 60 idle 90 load to 35 idle 75 load

I'm thinking of doing my RX580, cards 3+ years old may benefit but any newer and its pointless outside extreme OCing or fitting a waterblock or your own 3rd party cooler.

The thing with GPU's, particularly NVIDIA ones is that you don't really lower the temperatures by making heat transfer better using higher grade thermal paste. In turn, you cause clocks to be consistently higher, resulting in same temps, but better performance.

Well, hopefully the OP does this and posts before and after temps.  Primarily tho, a GPU is a closed unit and not "meant" to have paste replaced.  CPU's of course due since it's how the setup works.

 

Now I said "meant" because of course you CAN if you truly want to.

 

As to what you claim, it's a hit or miss and not a guarantee.

Well, no one that I'm aware of uses really high end thermal paste for GPU's. It's always generic white goop. Would be nice if they used Kryonaut as standard. But then again they'll charge extra 50€ for it so I'm not sure about that...
