Plex But For Files?

I really like the convenience and easy-to-use front end of Google Drive, but I don't like Google. I like the DIY-ness of Plex and its easy-to-use front end, but Plex is for media rather than straight-up file access. Is there an application that's like Plex, where you use your own server and hard drive, but it can contain files that can be easily accessed remotely?

TLDR: Plex for Files.

nextcloud? nice web interface like google drive, and apps too. Probably the best option here.

Does it cost money to use?

I second NextCloud. You can drag/drop and it has plugins for previewing/editing documents and playing media in your browser.
