Hi guys, I recently bought a laptop for school. It came with Endless OS on it and I installed Windows 10 Pro on it, but I feel it`s running sluggish. The laptop is really low end, like I said only bought it for school. It`s a Asus X541U, it has an i3-7100U 2,4GHz, 4 GB RAM, but i plan on adding 4 more. 4 simply doesnt do the job for me. Anyway, I need some suggestions on what OS to put on it. My options are Windows 7, 10, both Home and Pro. Pro feels sluggish so should I downgrade to Windows 10 Home/7 or should I keep it on Pro?

Thanks in advance!

Does it have a ssd? ( it appears to have a spinner) I would actually get a 240or 500gb 2.5inbsata ssd before ram, that would affect responsiveness a lot more then 8gb of ram

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Yeah it has a HDD. I think I`ll get both. So will 10 Pro cut it or should I downgrade?

There is no performance difference between Windows 10 Pro and Home, switching will make no difference. I'd upgrade to a SSD and 8GB of RAM. Unless you need a Windows only software, switching to a light-weight Linux OS would also be a good idea.

10 pro is just normal 10, but with less ms adds as some pre installed features (that are usually downloaded by the end user anyways)

I tried the software that came with the laptop but I do school on some sketchy ass meet app, that stays open in the background and doesn`t close propperly. It`s so fucking sketchy and honestly it looks more like a virus than a meet app. Anyway, it`s only for Windows, that`s why I couldn`t keep the linux based OS that came with the laptop.

Nah, you don’t need to do that for this. Hell I can run 10 on my single core athlon 64 (if I wanted too)

You don't need to use the OS that came with the laptop. There are lots of light weight Linux Distros.

You could use wine, which just translates the windows instructions to something that Linux can understand
