How to protect my pc?

Hey, so I just built my first pc and Idon't really know how to protect it, if I should use windows defender our any other antivirus, and the basic procedures overall, and if the is any programs I should install.

Can someone one help me with that?

Windows Defender and firewall is good enough unless you find it slows down certain things. I use Bitdefender myself. Check the below independant website for the latest test results. They test all the major anti virus software and give them scores in protection, userability and performance.
