Hi,

I have been suffering from low fps for a long while. I was getting 30fps! I have just reset my nvidia settings to default now and put low latency back on again ultra. I had made some changes to it before after following a guide online but reckon that's why I was getting such a low rate. Now I am getting around 47-62fps, at one point even spiked to 70fps. It looks a heck of a lot better and feels much more responsive than it was before.

Now my question is, what would you guys suggest I upgrade in order to get better fps as well as good quality. A new GPU? a new cpu and mobo?

I know I need a gaming monitor for sure so that's already on my list as right now I am using a samsung 40" 4k tv and for some reason windows 10 is disabling the gaming mode on it or some setting is preventing this as I can see the tv is set to this during bootup but then it gets disabled once windows 10 loads up.

My current spec is:

Intel i5 7600K running on an OC @ 4.8Ghz

MSI M5 Gaming Z270 motherboard

Crucial 32GB 3200 DDR4

Samsung Evo plus 1TB NVME

Nvidia Geforce 1050TI 4GB (also run this with an overclock using MSI afterburner when gaming)

EVGA 750W PSU

I have a couple of other sata HDD's connected as well as cooling fans but thats about it.

What would you guys recommend I do first or get? I'm hoping its not a full rig change lol

Thanks

If you don't feel like having a full rig upgrade.Go to a 1060 6gb or a 1650 (Non-super)

This is a bit of a tough one. I think upgrading to a used 1070 or 1070ti would be a good option. Then, a couple months down the line, I would upgrade to a Ryzen 5 1600AF or 3600

your gpu is pretty weak compared to your other stuff so id upgrade that. I've got a few options on My pc guide but a used 1070 ($180), 1070ti ($250), or a new 3060ti ($400) would be your best bet. whatever you think youll need

OUTDATED JAN 2021 ===========> Check out my pc building guide! might be useful tho

It's great for planning new builds, getting a reference on where to start, or seeing what you need to play what games.

It also shows what I recommend for upgrading your stuff!

cpu - ryzen 5 3600

gpu - gtx 1070

ram - (2x8) 3200mhz

ssd - 970 evo plus 500gb

ssd2 - 860 qvo 1tb

mobo - asrock b450m hdv r4.0

psu - evga b5 550w bronze

You definitively should go for a new GPU. If you tell us your budget we will be able to suggest some options

I don't really have a budget but then again im not that guy who is going to spend £1k on a gpu lol

Max I would spend on a gpu would be around £300, maybe go over a bit depending if it is worth that bit extra.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

I have been considering upgrading my rig but I figured I am okay for now but then I have also seen online where people mention that 4 core cpu's aren't enough to get more fps out of warzone and folk have been recommending the i10's and ryzens. I have been thinking of going back to AMD and will go for a ryzen as it just makes more sense considering they are ahead of intel now and its better value for money.

Not in a rush to do the mobo and cpu upgrade but If I can get a good graphics card that will handle this game till I do the cpu and mobo upgrade later then that would be ideal.

Im looking to get a really good graphics card, one that can even handle 4k but then again im not sure if many people are doing 4k gaming or if it is worth doing so on warzone even if you have the capability. What's everyone's opinion on 4k gaming right now and 4k gpu's?

As for gpu, I am also leaning more towards AMD cards as I've been hearing many great things about them such as that they are better than nvidia cards and cheaper than them. I've seen nvidia's pricing is absolute nuts. Think the only thing I would miss is the nvidia overlay which I have come to really like. I've heard AMD now also have this but wonder how its like compared to nvidia's.

Budget for my graphics card is £300, maybe push it a bit more depending on if it is worth it for that bit extra.

Btw I have a noctua D15s cooler for my current setup, that should be good enough for the new ryzen's yeah? Its got the amd brackets etc. I've got a push and pull setup on it at the moment.

cheers

yeah I know its weak for the games now, was decent back when I got it but to be honest when I built this rig then I wasn't looking to do gaming. It was very light gaming and not often. The only game that I played most was black ops 2 which was fine to run as its fairly old now.

There are people struggling to get high, and consistent, frame rate in Warzone using 30 series cards.

Seems like Warzone is a particularly demanding game.

an rx 580 can run warzone at max graphics at 1080p 60hz without any issues

1060 should be able to do the same, although an rx 580 is slightly more powerful and cheaper when looking for gpu's in the used market

Any other graphics card you can recommend to get better fps and quality? Could you suggest a few AMD cards please? Im going to be changing my tv to a gaming monitor as well later so that will be able to handle the higher fps.

thanks

personally i would wait for amd to release more "mid range" gpu's
at least thats what i would like to say but it could be easily 2-3 months until then.

anyway, in the last few months gpu prices have pretty much doubled rx 580's that used to go for $130 are now going for close to $300 and rx 5700xt's that used to be 380-420 are now closer to 800 or more

right now is just an overall bad time for gpu upgrading, you might have to wait a month or two for prices to not well.. suck.

Well, it seems to me that price is everything.

If you can afford the most expensive card then it'll be the best card money can buy.

If you can only afford to spend X amount then you'll get the best card for that money.

This sounds obvious, but it's that simple.

As there's only two Nvidia or AMD, it's a case of whether you prefer one brand over the other.

It's not like buying a car, where there might be 8 different manufacturers with 12 different engine sizes and varying fuel consumption etc...

If you have 2 thousand dollars/pounds/euros, you get the 3090, if you only have 200 then you get a 1650 or something...do you know what I mean?

It's all about how much you have to spend.

Okay cool, I can wait a few months not an issue. Yeah I have noticed that too that the cards have gone up as they are in demand.

I will see what comes up then.

What would be the best high end amd cards right now to get? I know the price wont be great but just curious so I can keep an eye on them when the new line up arrives

I forgot to mention my budget to you but im looking to spend around £300-£400 for a good card. Looking to switch over to AMD as its better value for money. Currently have nvidia but happy to change over if I can get more card for my money.

definitely the 6800xt, the thing has absolutely incredible overclock headroom. the aib cards will most likely have even more oc headroom because they use binning which will greater increase your chances of getting a higher end gpu core, therefore be more stable at higher clocks at lower voltages.

it was weird, 13 months ago a used rx 580 was around £108, one month ago an rx 580 was £124, and now all of a sudden a used rx 580 costs £245.

thanks mate!

had a quick look at a couple places and seems to be out of stock lol but £680 is the starting price ouch. Cool I shall keep my eye on these.

Yeah I remember I seen so many great deals on the rx580 before and I let them go thinking that there would be better deals towards the end of the year during the winter sales but boy that backfired.
