I have an important update about my RTX 3090 situation!!

as of last night the GPU Died and I am now closer to figuring out what is going on with the black screen issue.  Please view my photo that I took this morning. It seems like the reason the RTX 3090 is black screening and eventually died was because for some reason the power cable to the GPU is melting itself. Mind you the GPU temp is completely fine, it is only the cable that is melting. It seems like even at stock clock settings the voltage or power or wattage is melting the cable which caused the GPU to kill the display signal. So what can we do to fix this? Maybe a bigger power supply or something else?

What brand and model PSU is in that prebuilt? How does the 8 pin to 12 pin adapter going to the GPU look? Melted also?

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

The prebuilt came with a EVGA BQ 850 watt bronze

That photo I took was the connector at the GPU not from the PSU.

but if the GPU wasn’t over heating or anything then why would the cable be melting? Is it because of voltage spikes or maybe the power supply needs to be more powerful?

I am having the exact same issue here. I got a asus 3090, 1200w psu and a dual monitor set(one DP one HDMI). Only my HDMI connected monitor will randomly go black and no signal during Gaming. DP connected monitor still works and I can hear the video I played on the HDMI monitor.

I am guessing maybe because of the HDMI cable based on some reddit post but not sure😣

Hi,

Did you manage to solve this?

I have a similar issue with my Ventus 3090 OC. Screen goes blank and then found the 8pin connecter adapter I used burned.

Now getting VGA is not supported by UEFI and have to boot in CSM but still ends up with the screen going blank after a while. Tried on my other PC and same issueIMG_2866.jpeg.49d93b0efc2c03e9f06f267c1df622ec.jpeg
