I'm building my first machine, it will mainly used for a bit of gaming, (cod/warzone) & a little cad work

After a lot of advice and some reading up online I've gone for the x570 pro motherboard with a 850watt gold psu (hopefully future proofing my build), I was going for the Ryzen 3 3100 CPU but I can't seem to find it anywhere in stock, can anyone recommend another CPU that will be as good or better? My budget was £125 but for a better one I'll spend slightly more.

Also, is there a recommended tool kit too use when building a pc? I have most tools but anything special?

Wait - X570, 850 watts, with a 3100?
If you're getting 850 watts and a $150 motherboard, why are you getting a $125 CPU?
You don't spend more on your motherboard than your CPU.

What CPU would you recommend for that Motherboard to get the most out of it?

Is there a specific reason you need that motherboard?
And you really don't need 850 watts - a 750 would be fine.

The X570-A Pro is a trash-tier X570 board. It probably isn't going to cause any real problem if you're only going to put a 3100 in it, but if that's the case you don't need an X570 board at all.

There is no GPU you could reasonably pair with a 3100 that will result in a build that requires an 850W PSU. There is such a thing as getting a PSU with a little extra headroom for future upgrades, and then there is just flushing money down the toilet.

Whoever was giving you the advice that led to these bizarre choices, stop listening to them, return that board and PSU, and start from scratch. What is your total budget for the system?

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

OK, here's a pcpartpicker list using UK retailers:

If your budget for a CPU tops out at £125 and the Ryzen 3100 is out of stock everywhere that means basically your only option is to go Intel. You're not going to notice a huge difference in performance between the two and I'd feel fine upgrading as high as an i5-10600 in this build later.

Basically the cheapest 250GB SSD that's worth a damn for Windows and a couple most-used applications, then a 2TB traditional HDD for the rest of your games and files. Similarly, cheapest half-decent PSU over 500W to give a little breathing room for future upgrades.

GPU availability is a kick in the nads right now, the 570 is, once again, the cheapest card worth a damn I saw actually in stock. Here's a video showing what kind of gaming performance you can get with a 10100/570 combo:

So we're at £576 without a case, and I didn't pick a case because case choice is highly subjective, so you're probably going to go over your budget by a bit but if you just get something basic that holds the parts and don't need tempered glass, RGB, or a lot of quality of life features you won't exceed it by much.

Thank you for your time, that video speaks for itself!

I'll look at getting the board cancelled and ordering some new parts.

So I know, the x570 board, what build would you recommend that for, or wouldn't you?

Thanks again

Not sure I understand the question. Are you asking for a recommendation for an X570 board if you wanted one? Or are you asking for recommendations for an AMD build as opposed to the Intel one I have you?

Sorry I think I worded the question wrong, what type of pc build would you use the x570 for over the Intel i3?

Several manufacturers have X570 Pro named motherboards.

You need to work with a total budget, not one allocated to different parts.

There are dozens of 80+ Gold psu. Some are excellent, some mediocre, and some awful. The gold rating has nothing to do with quality.

,Use uk.pcpartpicker.com to workup a list. Or, provide a total budget for the system unit here and I'm sure some would be happy to offer suggestions.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

You're right, I interpreted it as the MSI X570-A Pro but he could mean the Asus Prime or TUF X570 Pro, which are actually pretty good, although still totally needless for his situation.
