I need some help picking out parts for a minecraft server

I want to build my own Minecraft server that can handle around 5-15 players on a heavily modded server with around 200+ mods and can also run vanilla with around 100 players (not at the same time). I already have an extra 16gb of ddr4 3200 mhz (I know I probably need more than that) and I also have a extra AIO water cooler and a 1TB nvme SSD. If someone can put together a parts list for me for around 400-500$ I would really appreciate it!

Any server site that i ever visited recommends i gb of ram per 10 players. I know when i was playing skyfactory I was using about 2.5 gb client side and I only had 2gb allocated server side. I'd say around 4gb should do the trick. As for the other stuff, I've never hosted a server myself I just pay someone else to >:) I use shockbyte Im pretty sure they have a list of their server specs if you want to check it out.

OUTDATED JAN 2021 ===========> Check out my pc building guide! might be useful tho

It's great for planning new builds, getting a reference on where to start, or seeing what you need to play what games.

It also shows what I recommend for upgrading your stuff!

cpu - ryzen 5 3600

gpu - gtx 1070

ram - (2x8) 3200mhz

ssd - 970 evo plus 500gb

ssd2 - 860 qvo 1tb

mobo - asrock b450m hdv r4.0

psu - evga b5 550w bronze

Only 2 gb for Sky Factory? I though modded servers used way more than that

Id probably get something like a i3 10100, a b460 board, and a basic case + psu. Won't need too much for a small minecraft server.

Make sure to leave some good budget left for a decent CPU, your players will much appreciate a high max render distance. The sweet spot right now for small Minecraft servers is 4cores/4threads, per-core performance matters a lot for MC servers.

PS. I know you very likely won't since you already have DDR4, but avoid AMD FX series at all costs, as the MC server software hates Bulldozer and Piledriver for some reason.
