The monitor doesn't give you more fps. A 280Hz screen is just able to display more FPS. It will only be smoother if your games actually run at 280Hz, which only Esports titles do these days. Imo as long as you're not playing competitively, 280Hz is not really worth it. I tried 240Hz myself and couldn't tell the difference between 144Hz and 240Hz.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

It is able to display more fps. Whether you are able to run games at 240 fps depends on the performance of your PC and the game you're playing.

 

Whether it makes a noticeable difference... up to you. Unless you're a pro-gamer playing competitive games I doubt it'll make a noticeable difference.
